Getting Started

What is PriorityBoard?

PriorityBoard is a beautiful, flexible priority management tool for organizing your tasks and goals. It features drag-and-drop interface, color-coded sections and priorities, multiple storage options, and mobile-friendly design.

Do I need an account to use PriorityBoard?

No! PriorityBoard works immediately with zero setup. No registration, email, or password needed. Data auto-saves to your browser. Optionally, set up Google Sheets or Airtable for cloud sync.

Is PriorityBoard free?

Yes! PriorityBoard is completely free: no subscription fees, no premium features, no ads, no data selling.

Do I need to install anything?

No installation required! PriorityBoard runs entirely in your web browser. Works on desktop and mobile. You can add it to your home screen for an app-like experience.

Storage & Data

Where is my data stored?

Depends on which storage option you choose:

Browser Storage (Default) - Stored in your browser's localStorage, stays on your device
Google Sheets - Stored in your personal Google account, cloud-based
Airtable - Stored in your personal Airtable account, cloud-based
JSON Files - Stored as files on your computer

Can I use PriorityBoard offline?

Yes! Browser storage works completely offline. No internet required. Cloud sync (Google Sheets, Airtable) requires internet connection.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

If you clear browser data, boards stored in browser will be lost. However, boards synced to Google Sheets or Airtable are safe - just load them again. Boards exported to JSON are also safe.

How do I backup my boards?

Use JSON Export (Settings → JSON File → Export) or sync to Google Sheets/Airtable for automatic cloud backup.

Features & Usage

How do I add items/tasks?

Click the + button on any section, fill in the title (required), optional link and details, choose priority level, and click "Save Item".

What are the priority levels?

Low - Nice to have, low urgency
Medium - Important, moderate urgency
High - Very important, needs attention
Urgent - Critical, immediate action required

How do I reorganize items?

Simply drag and drop items within the same section to reorder, or between sections to move them. Items auto-save when you move them.

Can I add links to items?

Yes! Enter a URL in the "Link" field when adding/editing an item. Click the link icon on the item card to open it. Great for GitHub issues, Google Docs, Jira tickets, etc.

Can I use PriorityBoard on my phone?

Yes! PriorityBoard is fully mobile-friendly with responsive design, touch-friendly interface, and drag-and-drop that works with touch.

Troubleshooting

My boards disappeared! What happened?

Possible causes:

Cleared browser data - Load from Google Sheets/Airtable or import JSON backup
Using different browser/device - Load from cloud sync or import JSON
Incognito/Private mode - Use normal browsing mode or set up cloud sync

Items won't drag and drop

Try refreshing the page (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R), clearing browser cache, or trying a different browser. On mobile, use a longer press to initiate drag.

Page is blank or not loading

Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R), clear browser cache, disable browser extensions temporarily, or try a different browser.

Security & Privacy

Is PriorityBoard safe to use?

Yes! PriorityBoard is open source, has no backend servers (runs entirely in your browser), no tracking or analytics, and no data collection.

Can others see my boards?

No, unless you explicitly share. Browser storage is local to your device, JSON files are on your computer, and cloud storage is private to your account.

What data does PriorityBoard collect?

None! No analytics, no cookies (except for your data), no tracking, no telemetry, no user accounts. Your data stays yours!

Airtable Setup Guide

Step-by-Step Setup (10 minutes)

Create an Airtable Account

Go to airtable.com/signup and sign up with email or Google account.

Create Your PriorityBoard Base

Click "Create a base"
Choose "Start from scratch"
Name it: PriorityBoard
Rename the default table to: Whiteboards

Set Up Table Fields

Your table needs exactly three fields:

Get Your API Key

Go to airtable.com/create/tokens
Click "Create new token"
Name it: PriorityBoard Access
Add scopes: data.records:read and data.records:write
Add access to your PriorityBoard base
Click "Create token" and copy it (starts with pat...)

Get Your Base ID

Look at the URL when viewing your base: https://airtable.com/appXXXXXX/...

Copy the part that starts with app.

Configure PriorityBoard

Click Settings (gear icon)
Select Airtable as storage backend
Enter your API Key, Base ID, and Table Name
Click "Save Configuration"

Load from Another Device

Open PriorityBoard on a different device
Go to Settings → Airtable
Enter the same API Key, Base ID, and Table Name
Click "Load from Airtable"
Your board appears!

Troubleshooting

"Failed to sync to Airtable"

Check these:

API Key starts with pat...
Base ID starts with app...
Table name matches exactly (case-sensitive!)
Token has data.records:read and data.records:write scopes

"No data found in Airtable"

This means the connection works, but there's no board saved yet. Click "Sync to Airtable" first to save your current board.

"Invalid API key format"

Your API key should start with pat..., be around 40+ characters, and have no spaces.
